Institute Mourns Passing of Tom Waters

Along the the international ergonomics community, Institute members are saddened to learn of the death of Dr. Thomas R. Waters.  Tom was a Research Physiologist and Safety Engineer for the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health for over two decades.  He was integral in the development of the NIOSH Work Practices Guide for Manual Lifting, an ergonomics assessment tool now used by ergonomists and safety professionals around the world.  Until his retirement at the end of 2012, Tom partnered with several Institute faculty and research staff on numerous studies.  He also served as an advisor and mentor to numerous graduate students who were working on their theses.  Our ergonomics family here at Ohio State will miss his wisdom, generosity, and humility.
